潤滑油不要のローラーチェーンは、チェーンをより長く清潔に保ちます。そのため、衛生基準が厳しい場所でも、仕様決定や設置が容易になります。CZPTの潤滑油不要ローラーチェーンは、NSF-H1潤滑基準を満たしています。ただし、食品との接触が考えにくい場所では、潤滑油付きのローラーチェーンも適しています。
ステンレス鋼製ローラーチェーンは、酸、アルカリ、低温環境に対して特に耐性があります。ステンレス鋼は炭素鋼よりも柔らかいため、潤滑剤による汚れの侵入防止効果は炭素鋼ほど高くありません。ステンレス鋼製ローラーチェーンは、標準的なチェーンよりも強度が高いものの、炭素鋼製のチェーンほど強くはありません。非常に汚れた環境でローラーチェーンを使用する場合は、ステンレス鋼製のチェーンを使用することをお勧めします。

スタッドチェーンは、チェーン内のスタッドが一体化されているため、摩擦駆動よりも効率的です。スタッドリンクは大きな破損にも耐えます。コンベヤチェーンや漁業などで使用されています。SBC素材で作られたボートチェーンの摩耗試験では、ボルトチェーンが摩擦駆動よりも効率的であることが分かりました。その用途は急速に拡大しています。
両端にスタッドが付いたチェーンは、高負荷用途においてより効率的です。内部幅全体にスタッドが配置されており、ねじれを防ぎます。このタイプのチェーンは、重量物の吊り上げ機械によく使用されます。その他のチェーンの種類としては、ローラーチェーン、動力伝達チェーン、ブッシングローラーチェーンなどがあります。これらのチェーンは、オートバイ、自転車、輸送機器などにも広く使用されています。スタッド付きチェーンは、効率性が高いだけでなく、摩擦駆動チェーンよりも摩耗の問題が少ないという利点もあります。
摩耗率と摩擦時間の差に関する研究では、スタッドチェーンが摩擦駆動よりも効率的であることが示されました。摩擦ストリップは試験開始時に測定され、6時間後（10080回）に取り外して同じ直径で撮影されました。境界値として、摩擦ストリップの直径は従来のチェーンの直径よりも小さくなっています。これは、本発明が摩擦駆動よりも優れた耐摩耗性を有することを示しています。
ピボットチェーンは、多くの用途で使用される汎用性の高いコンベヤです。背もたれが低く、背もたれ間の距離が短く、後部が開く設計になっているため、製品がジョイントに張り付いて動きが鈍くなるのを防ぎます。ステンレス鋼製およびカーボン製のブッシングピンチェーンには、予回転ローラーがありません。一方、バケットエレベーターにはピボットチェーンは使用されません。
