When a chain wears too long and loosens excessively, it can get trapped between the front sprocket’s cover and the sprocket itself, or drop off the rear sprocket entirely and catch on the swingarm. These scenarios are preventable. The front sprocket always wears out first because it is smaller and each tooth engages the chain more frequently per revolution. Once the front sprocket shows wear, it rapidly accelerates wear on the chain and rear sprocket. A worn front sprocket is extremely hard on the chain \u2014 and chains are the most costly and critical part of the drivetrain system, so they deserve the most attention.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
