Je to sp\u00f4soben\u00e9 opotrebovan\u00edm oto\u010dn\u00fdch \u010dapov a puzdier, nie skuto\u010dn\u00fdm na\u0165ahovan\u00edm kovu (ako sa to st\u00e1va u niektor\u00fdch ohybn\u00fdch oce\u013eov\u00fdch komponentov, ako je napr\u00edklad lanko ru\u010dnej brzdy motorov\u00e9ho vozidla).<\/p>\n<p>Pri modern\u00fdch re\u0165aziach je nezvy\u010dajn\u00e9, aby sa re\u0165az (okrem bicyklov\u00fdch) opotrebov\u00e1vala a\u017e do zlomenia, preto\u017ee opotrebovan\u00e1 re\u0165az vedie k r\u00fdchlemu opotrebovaniu zubov ozuben\u00fdch kolies, pri\u010dom kone\u010dn\u00fdm zlyhan\u00edm je strata v\u0161etk\u00fdch zubov na ozubenom kolese. Ozuben\u00e9 koles\u00e1 (najm\u00e4 men\u0161ie z dvoch) trpia \u0161kr\u00edpav\u00fdm pohybom, ktor\u00fd dod\u00e1va poh\u00e1\u0148anej ploche zubov charakteristick\u00fd h\u00e1kovit\u00fd tvar. (Tento efekt sa zhor\u0161uje nespr\u00e1vne napnutou re\u0165azou, ale je nevyhnutn\u00fd bez oh\u013eadu na starostlivos\u0165). Opotrebovan\u00e9 zuby (a re\u0165az) nezabezpe\u010duj\u00fa plynul\u00fd prenos rozvodovej re\u0165aze a to sa m\u00f4\u017ee prejavi\u0165 hlukom, vibr\u00e1ciami alebo (v automobilov\u00fdch motoroch pou\u017e\u00edvaj\u00facich rozvodov\u00fa re\u0165az) zmenou \u010dasovania zapa\u013eovania pozorovanou kontrolkou rozvodovej re\u0165aze. V t\u00fdchto pr\u00edpadoch by sa mali vymeni\u0165 ozuben\u00e9 koles\u00e1 aj re\u0165az, preto\u017ee nov\u00e1 re\u0165az na opotrebovan\u00fdch ozuben\u00fdch koles\u00e1ch nevydr\u017e\u00ed. V menej z\u00e1va\u017en\u00fdch pr\u00edpadoch je v\u0161ak mo\u017en\u00e9 zachr\u00e1ni\u0165 v\u00e4\u010d\u0161ie z dvoch ozuben\u00fdch kolies, preto\u017ee v\u017edy to men\u0161ie trp\u00ed najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161\u00edm opotrebovan\u00edm. Ak\u00fdko\u013evek v\u00fdznamn\u00fd pohyb (napr. umo\u017e\u0148uj\u00faci vidie\u0165 cez medzeru) pravdepodobne nazna\u010duje opotrebovanie re\u0165aze na hranicu limitu.
